2020

Go Corona Go,

Grow GDP Grow,

For anything of consequence

Easier to say no !

If something needs influence,

Better blame the world,

Why bother if there’s a media

That ensures you’re never heard.

We’re better than our neighbouring country,

Is, but a fact,

Why bother about the economy?

There’s no reason to act!

When you have a LOT of money,

You can win over many friends,

What makes it even easier

Is an opposition that’s reached its end!

All of India’s misfortunes,

Lets put on Jawaharlal,

And everything that’s never happened

Is because of friends of Karl !

The idea of India,

Must evolve and grow,

Skip this post,

The Nation doesn’t  want you to know !

The End of An Affair

I began writing at a very young age, leveraging the ability (primarily) as a defense mechanism, in view of an inherent inability to meaningfully participate and excel in physical activities.  In my growing up years, all the young adults around me were significantly older than I was, and I never made proactive attempts to engage with them. My earliest memories of my childhood would be penning down an imaginary lineup of make-belief players representing An-All Star Cricket Team (which borrowed its name from the title of a book that I’d discovered detailing the adventures of a young Bee called Buzzwing) and batting and bowling to oneself and using the Furniture in my Living Room as make-belief fielders.  The players in my team were people I’d read about (primarily authors of comic strips who would be featured in the daily newspaper) or media personalities and how they performed in these matches were often an outcome of my perceptions of how their cricketing abilities wou...

Laganu Bhonu (The Grand Feast) [Part One]

When Jamshed Khushrao Batlawala (affectionately known as Jimmy) founded the iconic Navseri restaurant in the summer of 1957, it marked an important milestone for Indian cuisine.   Born in a wealthy Parsi family, in south Bombay, Jimmy was a distant relative of Lord Firoze Batlawala- the first Mayor of Bombay City and the nephew of Hoozan Elavia- the country’s leading silent movie-star. His father Khushrao had lost his wife, during childbirth and yet did not emotionally attribute her demise to the birth of the infant. Jimmy’s laughter reminded him of his now deceased wife when he first met her outside Elphinstone college ten years ago and the young boy had distinctively inherited his mother’s famous eyebrows. When the child was six, Khushrao attempted to send his son to Eton for his education but young Jimmy’s earnest pleas and tears had made him decide otherwise. The young boy showed great mathematical aptitude in his formative years which gave Khushrao hope – he alway...

Contemporary India -From the eyes of an 18 year old

In recent weeks, reports that a leading Bollywood starlet had been subjected to racist remarks while participating in a reality show sent shockwaves throughout the country. Debates and discussions were held and widespread agitations observed. Protestors demanded that the U.K based show apologize personally to the contestant ,as well as the Nation. Moreover when on Eviction Day,the starlet’s apparent tormentor was ousted from the show, India breathed a sigh of relief. This entire episode meant that people everywhere were critical about the ongoing saga.Very long editorial articles and media debates followed .People on the streets too were found discussing the event in question ,even though ,most of them had no notion of how the show functioned or what racism actually meant. The people of India have always been critical about racism and will never tolerate racism of any kind was the unanimous opinion. This self-contradictory statement startled me greatly. We live in a society w...
